A conference for contractors planning to bid on construction of the Kanawha County Commission’s planned Shawnee Park Multi-Sport Complex will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Shawnee Park’s clubhouse.
As presented to prospective contractors, the project includes construction of six collegiate-size turf soccer and lacrosse fields, four collegiate-size turf baseball and softball fields, several grass practice fields, a new community building, a Youth Development Center in which after-school activities will be housed, new playgrounds with shelters, and upgrades to the park’s existing outdoor swimming pool and basketball courts.
“This is an important step in the process of making this sports complex become a reality,” said Kanawha County Commissioner Ben Salango.
Sealed bids for the project must be received at the county commission office by 11 a.m. on Dec. 13.
